From 2006-2008, 11 of Auburn's 89 offensive TD's were of 30-yards or more.
Under Gus Malzahn, Auburn had 16 TD plays of 30-yards or more from their 49 offensive TD's. The 16 offensive TD plays of 30-yards or more was the most in school history.
What happens when Auburn adds a QB (6-6 / 255) that runs close to a 4.5 forty and can throw a 70-yard pass to the mix in 2010?

The running QB is gonna add a whole other deminsion to our offense. I bet we end up having about a 60/40 run to pass ratio this year because of it. Without the runnning QB i'd expect it to be more 50/50 like last year. I just can't imagine what the linebackers will be thinking when we have motion going every which way and suddenly the QB comes out the backend with the ball in his hands. Talk about head aches!!

Yardage wise, we were about 50/50 but in play selection, we were already 60-40 run. We averaged 70.3 plays per game last season, I expect that to increase to about 75-80 plays if we are more consistent on offense. Having Newton at QB opens everything up on offense. I thought Malzahn did a great jb for the most part, building his offense around Chris Todd but he will be able to add a few new tricks to the show with an athletic QB at the helm.

Im also going to assume that Newtons arm strength is superior to Todds. Although Chris bounced back nicely from the shoulder surgery... and put some nice floaters through the air to Adams and Zachery. I wonder if Cams arm is stronger, then Zachery could have some big gains this year, as he displayed great ability to catch the ball deep down field. Adams did as well. they could cause problems for defensive backs in coverage

they could cause problems for defensive backs in coverage e------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ if cams arm is not 4x stronger than todds then move him to linebacker now. i saw his utube his arm is a cannon. but i was more impressed with tyric and mosley accuracy wise.

That a little surprising that the selection was at that ratio. I wonder if we should expect that to go heavier towards the run or more to the middle? We add a QB with a stronger arm but he also has great running ability...the mind runs wild trying to predict where Malzahn is heading

At 6-6, 247, Cam and the Tigers is going to put fear into the hearts of every team that lines up against them.

One of Coach Malzhan's main offensive goals is to tire the opposing defense. With a stronger arm at quarterback (it makes no difference whether it is Cameron Newton, Barret Trotter, or Clint Moseley) it will put much more pressure on opposing corner backs. Most teams are lucky to have one shut down corner. We can expect the use of T Zach, DeAngelo Benton, Travante Stalworth, Emory Blake, Antonio Goodwin to stretch that defense down field a lot. They will rotate and simply wear the opposing corners completely down. It will result in even more long touchdowns of 30 or more yards. Darvin Adams, Quindarius Carr, Kodi Burns, Trovon Reed will do the same thing to the other corner and keep the safeties honest. This will result in a lot of 15 to 20 yd pass plays. With Lutzenkirchen, Aycock, Smith, Fannin coming shorter across the middle it will open up the run game. The offensive line is certainly going to be dominant this year. Auburn should run wild, especially against 3-4 defenses. Fannin, Dyer, Aycock, McCalebb will find creases plentiful. The entire effect of this offensive attack is going to surprise Auburn fans this year. There will still be a close to 50/50 rushing v passing yards ratio as defenses shift back and forth trying to stop one or the other. Superior speed is the only way to stop both and there is no team on Auburn's schedule who's defensive speed is superior to the Auburn offense.

We should easily have the #1 offense in the SEC next year and should be in the top 10 overall. Really can't wait to see this team at work. I'm glad I'm not a defensive coordinator on our schedule this year if I were I think I would call in in sick that week.
