On The Recruiting Trail

Volume 6

with The Mayor and AUSportTalk

Gene Chizik and the Auburn football coaching staff put together what was arguably one of the best signing classes in Auburn history last year, as well as one of the best in the country. Recently, at Gene Chizik's press conference he said, it takes more than just one of these type classes. It takes putting them together one on top of another, to get where we want to be. So what will the Auburn staff do for an encore to last years class, in 2011?

They've started off by securing two big time commitments already. Spencer Region is a huge specimen on the offensive line, at 6'6", 330 pounds. He's not only one of the top OL prospects in Alabama this year, but also the nation. He'll play guard at Auburn and the AU coaches think he has everything it takes to be an outstanding road-grater.

Izauea (Isiah) Lanier is Auburn's other commitment. Lanier is 6'1", 190 pounds, runs a 4.5 forty and is an excellent safety prospect. Auburn coaches really like Lanier's coverage skills and well as being a player who will come up and play physical at the line. He comes by way of East Mississippi Community College and will have three years to play three.

Auburn will more than likely sign the limit of 28 players. Signing day is almost a year away and there will be many changes between now and then. Players will fall off the radar and new players will cetainly find their way into Auburn's sights. Here's a Top 50 list of players that are being recruited by Auburn the hardest, as of today....

QB - Jeff Driskel - 6'3" - 225 - 4.5 forty - Oviedo, FL (Hagerty) - AU/FL/LSU/UGA/N.D. - U.S. Army All-American. May be the top dual-threat QB in high-school football. Some have even compared Jeff to Tim Tebow. Whether Driskel is the next Tebow is yet to be seen. He does however have an amazing arm, can make any throw needed and has more than enough athletic ability and speed to buy time in the pocket. He will commit this summer and most expect it to come down to AU or FL.

QB - Kiehl (Kyle) Frazier - 6'3" - 215 - 4.6 forty - Springdale, Ark (Shiloh Christian) - AU/ARK/LSU/Miami/Mich/N.D. - Staking his claim to the best dual-threat QB in high-school football is Kiehl Frazier. He put up ridiculous numbers as a junior, throwing for 3,817 yards and 48 TD's. He also ran for 746 yards and added 14 more TD's on the ground. Auburn would love to get Frazier and so would everyone else in the country. Right now he seems to be wide open between his list of suitors, but you can bet Auburn will do everything they can do be in the thick of it with Kiehl on signing day. Frazier has been to AU several times already and plans to come back before he makes is decision sometime before his senior season starts.

QB - C.J. Uzomah - 6'5" - 235 - 4.7 forty - Suwanee, GA (North Gwinnett) - AU/AL/UGA/Clem/LSU/Miami/UNC/TN - Uzomah is a little more raw than Driskel and Frazier, but he has tons of tools to work with and a lot of upside. He's very smart at the QB position and usually makes a good decision with the ball. He also has very good agility and moves around in the pocket well. He has offers from all of the big colleges and it's anybodys guess as to where he'll land at this point.

QB - Stephen Rivers - 6'6" - 200 - Athens, AL - TN/UCLA/Stanford/NC State/Arizona St/AU/AL - Younger brother of Phillip. He has offers already from some big schools in TN, Arizona St. and UCLA. A lot of schools, including Auburn are following him very closely and could offer at any time. Stephen has already visited AU and if Auburn were to offer, I think they would be in pretty good shape to sign himin February.

RB - Isiah Crowell - 5'11" - 190 - 4.4 forty - Columbus, GA (Carver)- AL/UGA/FSU/Clem/AU/TN/LSU - Crowell has offers from everybody and is easily one of the top 5 RB's in the class of 2011. He has outstanding speed and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. FSU and AL have been rumored to be the early favorites, but he's actually still wide open at this point. He visited AU on Febraury 26th with teammate Gabriel Wright and came away very impressed with AU. He was so impressed with what AU had to offer that he now says Auburn will be one of the final teams he considers when he makes his decison later in the year. Crowell is planning a return trip to the plains for the A-Day game.

RB - Demarcus James - 5'9" - 215 - 4.5 forty - Demopolis, AL - AU/AL/Ole Miss/Miss St./Ga Tech - James seems to be a guy that everyone is watching. If he has a big senior year, there is no doubt the offers will start rolling in. AU, Ole Miss, Miss St. and AL are all keeping close watch on Demarcus and he'll more than likely end up in the SEC somewhere.

RB - Aaron Green - 5'9" - 175 - 4.4 forty - San Antonio, TX (James Madison) - TX/USC/UGA/AL/AU/TN/OK/N.D. - Green is a lightning fast speed back who might actually be a little faster than his listed 4.4 speed. He has offers from everybody and he's already been to TX who has rolled out the red carpet for him. Auburn's trying to get him to visit, along with everybody else.

RB - Mike Blakely - 5'9" - 195 - 4.4 forty - Bradenton, FL (Manatee) - Clem/Miami/FL/WVU/S. Carolina/AU/Mich - Blakely could be the best RB in the state of Florida this year and is without a doubt one of the best RB's in the country. He loves Clemson, which was the first school to offer him and they've done a great job recruiting him, as he's already developed some relationships there. He also like Florida a lot right now as well. He plans to take his visits and go through camps before making his decision though, and if AU can get a visit they could make a serious run at him. AU has offered and are recruiting him hard.

RB - Quan Bray - 5'11" - 180 - 4.4 forty - Hogansville, GA (Callaway) - Clem/Miami/UGA/AL/AU - Bray played QB for his high-school team last year but expects to play RB at the next level. Bray is an outstanding RB prospect with great athleticism and speed. He has offers from just about everybody in the country and right now he seems to be favoring Clemson, Miami, UGA and AL. Auburn is fighting for a visit though and have officially offered. If AU can get him to visit, they've got a shot.

RB - Chevelle Buie - 5'7" - 165 - 4.4 forty - Cocoa, FL - UGA/Clemson/LSU/Miami/AU/S. Carolina/Oregon/Michigan - One of the fastest and most explosive RB's in the 2011 class is Chevelle Buie. UGA is the early favorite for his services. They were the first to offer him and have been on him hard. Buie says he's still open however, and will take all of his visits before making his decision. Auburn should get one of his 5 official visits this fall and I expect AU to be one of his finalists on signing day.

WR - Danny Woodson Jr. - 6'2" - 200 - 4.5 forty - 35 inch Vertical - Mobile, AL (LeFlore) - AU/Troy/S. Miss/Memphis/AL/Ark/UCLA - Auburn, Memphis, Troy and Southern Miss have offered and AL, Ark, UCLA, FSU and many others continue to watch Woodson Jr. closely. His father was an outstanding WR for AL and Woodson Jr. admittingly grew up a fan of the crimson tide. If AL offers, they'll definitly be in the drivers seat for his signature. However, AU has been on him since the beginning and if they can get him to visit, their chances are likely to go way up.

WR - Shamir Jeffery - 6'2" - 195 - 4.6 forty - St. Matthews, SC (Calhoun County) - AU/S.Car/TN/KY/Ga Tech - His brother Alshon signed with South Carolina in February, so the Gamecoacks may have a leg up in landing Shamir. Another thing to consider in his recruitment is he also wants to play basketball in college as well. Given the problems in Auburn's basketball program, it could put AU a little behind. AU offered early though and is trying to get the big WR in for a visit. If they can get him to visit, AU will likely make Jefferey's decision very tough.

WR - Daryl Collins - 6'0" - 190 - 4.5 forty - Gadsden, AL (Gadsden City) - AU/AL/TN/LSU/USC - AU, AL, KY and USC have officially offered Collins so far. With a big senior year, expect the offers for Collins to grow continuously. The good news for Auburn fans is AU has been on Collins from the beginning and was one of the first to offer. Collins says he likes many things about Auburn, from the coaches, to the city and enviornment. It's a long way from signing day, but right now AU is sitting in a really good position to sign Collins next February. He says he really likes the idea of playing for Trooper Taylor and it very well could come down to an in-state battle between AU and AL in the end. Collins though, isn't expected to make his decision until signing day.

WR - Nickolas Brassell - 6'2" - 175 - Batesville, MS (South Panola) - Ole Miss/Miss St./LSU/AU/AL - Brassell will be one of the top WR prospects in the South this year and possibly the country. He was named All-State as a sophomore after leading the state of MS in yards per catch, with his outstanding ability to get behind the defense. As it stands right now, it seems USC and AL lead for his services but he says he's wide open to all of the schools that have offered him. Auburn has offered him and are trying their best to get one of his official visits this fall.

WR - Hakeem Flowers - 6'2" - 175 - 4.4 forty - Greenville, SC (Wade Hampton) - AU/LSU/TN/N.D./FSU/Ga Tech - Flowers is an interesting prospect as he can play WR or DB in college. He probably projects as a WR but he can play either way. He's also interesting because he has somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 scholarship offers. His offer list includes every top Division I school and then some. He claims no leaders at this point and is just trying to narrow things down a bit so he can take his visits. If AU can get one of those visits, they could very well be in contention for his signature. He plans to try and narrow things down a bit and make a decision sometime in the fall. Flowers is also an outstanding student. He wants to major in business management and says academics will play a big role in where he signs.

WR - Kelvin Benjamin - 6'6" - 215 - 4.4 forty - Belle Glade, FL (Glades Central) - FL/FSU/Miami/AU/TN/WVU/UGA - Benjamin is big, tall, fast, has great hands and is just an all around great athlete. With a good showing at the camps and a good senior year, he may even end up being the top WR in Florida this year. Florida was one of the first teams to offer and could be the early leader, but Benjamin is far from making his decision. He claims no leader or top list of teams, but is interested in all the teams that have offered him. AU is one of those teams and they are hoping to get him on campus for a visit as soon as possible.

WR/ATH - Sammy Watkins -  6'1" - 180 - 4.5 forty - Fort Myers, FL (South Fort Myers) - AU/FSU/TN/FL - Auburn, FSU and TN have all offered and appear to be the top 3 front runners for his signature at this time. The in-state Florida Gators are also showing plenty of interest and could be a major player for his services before it's over, as well. Watkins is a big time play-maker with good size, speed and agility. Most project Watkins as a WR in college, but his athletic ability could allow him to play both sides of the ball. Watkins will probably not make his decision until closer to signing day.

WR - Collins Moore - 6'2" - 185 - 4.5 forty - Madison, AL (Bob Jones) - AU/AL/Clemson/UCLA/UAB - All indications are Moore would like to play in-state. He has visited both AU and AL and had high remarks for both. He also camped at Auburn last summer. He did however, grow up a fan of Alabama and if they were to offer, most think it would be hard to pull him away. Moore claims though that his childhood allegiances won't affect where he decides to play football for the next four years and that school could very well be AU. Moore hasn't set a timetable on when he will make his decision, but when he does most think it will be either AU or AL, if they both offer.

TE - Jay Rome - 6'6" - 240 - Valdosta, GA - AU/AL/UGA/FL/FSU/N.D./S. Carolina/TN/Michigan - Rome recently picked up an offer from Auburn to add to his list of nearly 20 offers. Among them FL, FSU, UGA, AL, S. Carolina and N.D. He claims Clemson, UGA and FL are his top teams but it's still very early in the process and he plans on taking his visits before he makes a decision. If AU can secure a visit, I expect the Tigers chances to go way up in landing him. His brother Brandon Frye, played for Virginia Tech.

TE - Brandon Fuse - 6'4" - 250 - 4.8 forty - Fort Meade, FL -  UGA/FL/AU/FSU/TX Tech - U.S. Army Al-American. Fuse is without a doubt one of the best TE prospects in the country. He actually plays both ways in high school, starring at DE as well and some colleges think he would make a great defensive lineman. AU, as well as several other teams across the country, love his soft hands to go with his outstanding physical strength and athletic ability and believe he could be a great TE. He won't make his decision until close to signing day though, after he takes all of his visit. Auburn should be one of those visits.

TE/OL - Jordan Prestwood - 6'6" - 265 - 4.9 forty - 300 Bench - 450 Squat - Plant City, FL - AU/N.D./FSU/S.Car/USF - Prestwood has around 15 offers, one of them from Auburn. He plays TE for his Plant City high-school team but many schools, including Auburn think he'll be an outstanding tackle. Prestwood shows exceptional footwork, lateral movement and athleticism for a guy his size, so it's easy to understand why coach Grimes thinks he could play OL at AU with a year of Yoxersize. Prestwood visited AU for junior day and came away impressed with what he saw, however it will be a tough job to pry him away from his childhood favorite Florida State Seminoles as they have offered him as well. He says he wants to take all of his visits before making a decision though and should start narrowing the field sometime during his senior season.

OL - Reese Dismukes - 6'3" - 272 - Spanish Fort, AL - AU/AL/FSU - He likes all 3 of AU, AL and FSU but is probably an AU lean at this time. He grew up an Auburn fan, but was planning on announcing his intentions to play for Alabama a couple of weeks ago. That was before his good friend Spencer Region had a falling out with Nick Saban and made the switch to AU. Because of what transpired with Region, Dismukes put his decision on hold. Auburn jumped on the opportunity and has made up a lot of ground with Dismukes over the last couple of weeks. Projected as a true center in college and one of the top OL in the state of Alabama this year, expect Dismukes to land at either AU or AL and as it stands rigt now, AU probably leads.

OL - Brey Cook - 6'7" - 315 - 335 Bench - 435 Squat - Springdale, Ark (Har-Ber) - AU/Ark/OK/AL/FSU/USC/Miami/Ole Miss - Brey Cook is one of the most sought after players in the country, reguardless of position. He's receiving extreme recruiting pressure everywhere he goes. Arkansas, Alabama and Oklahoma to name a few, have pulled out all the stops in effort to garner his signature. Cook wants to make a decision as soon as possible and says he may have his decision made by this spring. As to who the lucky school will be is anybody's guess. At this point, Cook is just trying to narrow down his list and go from there. He has been to AU on an unofficial and has an offer from the Tigers, though there is no word on where AU stands.

OL - Watts Dantzler - 6'7" - 315 - 310 Bench - 430 Squat - Dalton, GA - AU/UGA/TN/AL/FSU/N.D./Ole Miss/Vandy - Dantzler is one of the top OL in Georgia and in the country this year. He already holds an impressive offer list from some of the biggest football schools in the south and one of them is from Auburn. Although his offer list has grown to nearly 20, he says he already has a top 5 list of favorites. They include AU, AL, UGA, TN and Vandy in no particular order. Dantzler is an excellent student and will have no problems qualifying. He plans to announce his decision on his birthday, November 16th.

OL - Jamar Lewter - 6'7" - 285 - Washington, D.C. (Ballou) - 275 Bench - 330 Squat - AU/UNC/Pitt/Utah/E. Carolina - Lewter is player whose stock is continually rising. He's got great feet and agility to go with his huge frame which has many college coaches hot on his trail. Lewter plans to make his decision sometime in the summer but wants to take all of his visits before he does. Auburn should be one of his stops on the recruiting trail and his decision could come down to a UNC and AU battle.

OL - Gregory Robinson - 6'5" - 296 - 365 Bench - 525 Squat - Thibodaux, LA - AU/LSU/Ark/USC - Robinson is considered a heavy lean to LSU as it stands right now. He's grown up an LSU fan and believes that's where his heart is at the moment. He does however, want to take his visits before he makes his decision final just to make sure. Auburn should get one of those visits and they will probably give him a lot to think about. He plans to make his decision at the end of summer or early fall.

OL - Christian Westerman - 6'5" - 290 - Chandler, AZ (Hamilton) - 400 Bench - TX/AU/N.D./FL/FSU/LSU/OK/UGA/Cal/Neb/AZ/Arizona St. - Westerman is arguably the nations top OL prospect for 2011. He has over 25 scholarship offers from every major football program in college football and one of those is from AU. TX is probably considered the leader for his services as they have been recruiting him hard for well over a year, but Westerman claims no leaders at this time. AU is hoping to get one of his 5 official visits this fall and get in the sweepstakes themselves, as Westerman makes the trek across country visiting schools. Westerman has not set a date for his announcment.

OL - Thomas O'Reilly - 6'3" - 315 - Marietta, GA (Pope) - AU/Ga Tech/N.C. St/Vandy/Miss St./AL/FL - If Watts Dantzler isn't the best OL in Georgia this year, Thomas O'Reilly very well could be. O'Reilly is a big, strong and deceptivly quick OL that already has offers from several big time schools and is being watched closely by others. He says right now his list of favorites are Ga Tech, UGA, FL, AU and AL in no particular order. Auburn expects to see O'Reilly in person this fall for an official visit. He doesn't have a time set for when his announcment will come, but does say he would like to stay closer to home. That bodes well for UGA, Ga Tech and AU.

DE - Ray Drew - 6'5" - 245 - 4.7 forty - Thomasville, GA (Thomas County Central) - AU/TN/USC/AL/LSU/FL/UGA/Ga Tech - Ray Drew is another player who has offers from a who's who of the college football world. He says at the moment he favoring playing at either FSU or UGA but he won't make his decision until closer to signing day so that could change. That gives AU and other schools plenty of time to secure a visit and try to do what they can to land his services. Drew has close to 20 offers at this time so look for his recruitment to be hot and heavy.

DE - Sterling Bailey - 6'5" - 235 - 4.7 forty - Gainesville, GA (East Hall) - S.Carolina/Clem/AU/UGA/FL/Ga Tech/TN/USC - Bailey doesn't have a top list of favorite schools at the moment but he's already been to S. Carolina, Florida Georgia and Clemson. He already liked the hometown UGA Bulldogs before his visit and they certainly didn't hurt themselves when he visited Athens recently. Auburn is throwing their hat in the ring as well and is trying to secure a visit from Bailey before he makes his decision. They've got plenty of time, as he doesn't expect to make a decision any time soon. If Auburn can get him to visit, expect them to make his decision tougher.

DE - Xzavier Dickson - 6'3" - 240 - Griffen, GA - AU/AL/FSU/Ga Tech/Miss St. - Dickson is being recruited by everybody and he has an offer from AU. His recruitment is far from over though. He grew up a Georgia fan, claims AL as his leader, but really likes AU and FL too. Expect his decision to come after a fierce recruiting battle that may go until signing day. In fact, in may come down to a Auburn vs Alabama battle for his services in the end.

DE - Keymiya Harrell - 6'6" - 235 - Plantersville, AL (Dallas County) - AU/AL/FL/LSU/UGA/Clemson - Harrell has an offer from AU and visited the plains in January. He's also receiving a lot of interest from other schools across the southeast, including UGA, FL and AL. As it stands right now, he seems to be leaning towards Auburn, but will take his visits before making a decision.

DE - Jabrian Niles - 6'3" - 225 - 4.5 forty - 300 Bench - Mobile, AL (Davidson) - AU/AL/FL/FSU/Ole Miss - Niles grew up an AU fan and really likes Auburn, but AU hasn't offered yet. He does have offers from a lot of other big time schools such as FL, FSU, Ole Miss and AL and it wouldn't be surprising to see AU offer soon, as they are recruiting him hard. If AU offers, expect them to be the odds on favorite for his signature.

DE - Kameron Wood - 6'4" - 220 - 4.6 forty - Birmingam, AL (John Carrol) - AU/AL/Miss St. - Wood visited AU in January and came away saying he would love to play for Auburn. He even said he was ready to commit. The problem is AU hasn't offered yet. Auburn is activly recruiting wood though and could offer at any time. Until they do, Wood says he will continue to explore his options but if and when AU does offer he says he will accept.

DE - Stephon Tuitt - 6'5" - 260 - Monroe, Ga - AU/FL/UGA/Ga Tech/Clem/S. Carolina - Tuitt is a speed rusher who can make tons of plays from the DE spot. Some teams that are recruiting him actually like him as a LB because of his speed and think he could thrive there. The two in-state schools, UGA and Ga Tech have been on him hard early, but Auburn has gotten on him recently as well. Auburn expects Tuitt in for a visit sometime in March and would love to secure his commitment. Tuitt wants to take some visits before he decides, but would like to have his mind made up this summer.

DE/DT - Gavin Rocker - 6'3" - 225 - Tyrone, GA (Sandy Creek) - AU is watching Rocker very closely but haven't offered just yet. Gavin is the son of David Rocker and nephew of AU defensive line coach Tracy so it will be hard for another team to come in and snatch him away from the Tigers. The Georgia Bulldogs however, have been showing him some attention recently. With a good showing at some camps and a big senior year, his stock will likely rise quickly due to his athletc ability and his bloodlines.

DE/DT - LaMichael Fanning - 6'6" - 285 - Auburn, AL - AU/AL/UGA/FSU/TN/UNC/Clem - Fanning played DE at Calloway high school in Georgia up until last year, when he moved with his mom and transferred to Auburn high. At Auburn High, he's played mostly DT. In college he could play either, as he's big and strong enough to play inside, but quick enough to play outside. Fanning being at Auburn high would seem to help the Tigers chances, but it doesn't look like it will affect his decision. He lists his current favorites as AL and UGA. Auburn will have their chance at him as well though. AU expects to get one of his officials and several unofficials since he's so close and Fanning won't make his official decision until closer to signing day.

DT - Gabriel Wright - 6'3" - 275 - 395 Bench - Columbus, GA (Carver) - AU/AL/UGA/FSU/UNC/S. Carolina - Wright is one of the top players in high-school this year reguardless of position and good DT's are hard to find. He has offers from everybody, including FSU, UGA, AL and AU. Early on AL was rumored to be on top with FSU just behind them but AU recently staked their claim for his services. He visited AU on Febrary 25th with his teammate Isiah Crowell and came away with glowing remarks for Auburn. He now says he's wide open and AU will be one of his finalists when he makes his decision. Wright has been to AU several times already and plans to return a couple more times before it's over with. It will be a tough recruiting battle for Wright, but AU helped themselves tremendously with his last visit and could be his choice on signing day. Wright also mentioned that he wants to play with his teammate Isiah Crowell in college, so Auburn's recruitment of Crowell could play a factor in where he signs as well.

DT - Bo Tillman - 6'6" - 280 - Wesson, MS (Copiah Lincoln C.C.) - AU/Miss St./Ole Miss - Tillman originally signed with Southern Miss out of Franklin County high school in Meadville, MS and was a 4 star DT prospect. However, he failed to qualify and enrolled at Copiah Lincoln C.C. and has been working on his grades there, while prepping for the SEC. Bo Tillman's half brother, Marcus is in his senior year at Ole Miss and his cousin Josh Tillman is a heavy Ole Miss lean. Bo Tillman will probably end up at one of the Mississippi schools or Auburn and have three years to play two.

LB - Denzel Perryman - 6'0" - 215 - Coral Gables, FL - AU/FL/FSU/UGA/LSU/TN - Perryman is one of the top LB prospects in the country for 2011. In fact, Perryman already holds somewhere around 15 scholarship offers from many of the top programs around the country, including one from AU. He's already visited FSU and Miami and although he loved his experience on both of those visits, he's nowhere near ready to make his decision. He claims to be wide open at this time and will take his visits before announcing his favorite school. Auburn is trying to make sure they get one of those visits and have been on Perryman since the beginning. Expect Perryman's recruitment to be one of the fiercest recruiting battles of the year.

LB - A.J. Johnson - 6'3" - 225 - 4.6 forty - Gainesville, GA - AU/AL/TN/UGA/USC/UNC/Miami - Johnson committed to TN last summer but backed out of that verbal commitment when Lane Kiffen left for USC. He has now reopened his commitment and isn't expected to make a decision any time soon. His early list of favorites are TN, Miami and UGA, but AU is trying desperatly to get him to visit the plains as soon as possible. If the can get Johnson to visit, which they expect to, their chances will go way up in signing him.

LB - Chris Landrum - 6'2" - 215 - 4.6 forty - Sweet Water, AL - AU/AL/FSU/Clemson/Ga Tech - Landrum visited Auburn early in February and picked up an offer from the Tigers. He came away very impressed with the Auburn coaches and said he is seriously considering AU. However, it will be a tough battle with his childhood favorite Alabama, who recently offered Landrum as well. He says he wants to take more visits and take his time with recruiting, but look for the battle for Landrum to be between AU and AL.

LB - Demarcus Sherod - 6'2" - 225 - 4.7 forty - Decatur, GA (Columbia) - AU/OK/Oregon/Clem/UGA/Ga Tech/TN - Sherod has not received an official offer from AU as of yet but they are watching him closely and activly recruiting him. Sherod has been to the plains and says he fell in love with Auburn. Until Auburn offers, he will continue to explore other schools, but if he gets the offer he's been waiting on from AU, all indications are he will commit and end his recruitment.

LB - Matthew LeFlore - 6'3" - 215 - 4.6 forty - Cordova, TN - LeFlore has ties to Auburn as his cousin is AU starting safety Darren Bates. LeFlore doesn't have a ton of offers right now, but AU, TN, Louisville and Ole Miss are recruiting him pretty hard and offers could come any time from those schools. LeFlore will be in Auburn for the A-Day game and if the Tigers offer I expect him to commit. All reports say he is leaning heavily to AU and is just waiting on an offer.

CB - Josh Turner - 6'0" - 185 - 4.4 forty - Oklahoma City, OK (Millwood) - AU/OK/TX/N.D./Neb/Wisc. - Turner already has over 20 scholarship offers. He is a two-sport standout and also excells in basketball. So far Turner has been making the rounds in the midwest, seeing schools like TX and OK St. AU recently offered Turner and is trying to get in the sweepstakes for his services. Turner claims to be wide open at this point.

CB - Jonathan Rose - 6'2" - 170 - 4.5 forty - Leeds, AL - AU/AL/FSU - Rose has offers from Auburn, AL and FSU but is a very strong AU Lean. He's the son of Charles Rose, who played safety for Auburn in the 90's. The younger Rose visited Auburn earlier in Feruary and impressed the Tiger coaches enough to receive an offer. Coach Chizik and Lolly love his coverage skills and his size and think he could be a great corner for AU. Rose wants to take some visits and make sure he is making the right decision, but it will be a major shocker if he doesn't sign with Auburn.

CB/S - Cameron Martin - 6'2" - 170 - 4.5 forty - Mobile, AL (McGill Toolen) - Martin is a relative unknown at this point, but Auburn coaches have identified him as a player they would like to have. He plays safety for McGill Toolen and has started there since his freshman year. It's unclear at this point exactly what position AU sees Martin playing on the plains, but they believe he has enough speed to play corner and at 6'2" his height would definitly be an asset there. Martin has an early offer from AU and that may be his only major offer at this time, although a strong senior season should make his stock rise tremendously.

S - Erique Florence - 6'2" - 180 - 4.4 forty - 235 Bech - 355 Squat - Valley, AL - AU/AL/FL/FSU/Ga Tech/LSU - Erique Florence may be the top safety in the class of 2011. Already holding offers from all of the big SEC and ACC schools, there's no telling how many offers he'll actually end up with if he has a good senior year. Florence is a terrific athlete who is a 3 sport star for Valley high school in football, basketball and baseball. His future however, is on the gridiron and his recruitment will be a heated battle. Florence is terrific in coverage and hits like a LB. Auburn was one of the first teams to offer Florence and he's been to AU a couple of times already. He took in the Iron Bowl last year and came away very impressed with the Tigers and the game day atmosphere. Erique has not narrowed down his list of favorites yet, but all indications are Auburn will be one of his finalists.

S - Anthony Swain - 6'2" - 185 - 4.5 forty - Gadsden, AL (Gadsden City) - TN/AL/AU/UAB - Swain visited AU last weekend with his good friend and teammate Daryl Collins. Both came away with great things to say about AU and Swain walked away with his first offer. As it stands right now, AU is in very good shape with Swain and should be there as a finalist when he makes his decision. The Auburn coaches love Swains abilities on the football field and describe him as a player that can run with anybody, but will hit you too. Expect AU to make a very strong run at Swain all the way to the end.

S - Malcolm Mitchell - 6'1" - 170 - 4.4 forty - Valdosta, GA - UGA/FL/AL/AU - Mitchell has started receiving offers from several of the big SEC schools already. He could play corner or safety in college football because of his size and speed. Speculation is he may be leaning to UGA as it sits right now, but he says he's wide open. He's been to UGA and FL but AU has recently offered and is hoping to get a visit from him sometime this summer.
